RE: Thinga to do /see around vogel SP GA.

Once a year, we spend a few days at Vogel - my favorite park. Go to Helton Creek Falls to swim below the falls. It is about a mile south of Vogel, look for the signs. The lake at Vogel offers swimming and paddle boating. There will be a concert at the lake on Saturday night - bluegrass type music. There are good hiking trails around the park, both short ones and longer ones. The sites across the creek are the best. Have a great time there. We always do!:B

RE: Camping @ Vogel State Park in Georgia

I actually tried it last weekend, and while trying to clip it to my awning, it fell on my head and I got a good soaking. We all got a good laugh at that. I was successfull in putting it back up, but I didn't notice any difference with the flies, except they were lol'ing at me for having a baggie of water poured over my head.

RE: Camping @ Vogel State Park in Georgia

We were in site 48 last weekend and yes, the flies were terrible. We ran the fan in the screen room and were fine sitting in there. We camped at Vogel last year at this same time and I don't remember the flies being a problem at all then. How about that thunder storm Sunday morning?

RE: attn: Townsend, Tn. campers

I stayed at Tremont Hills last week for $70/night for full hookups with four adults and two vehicles. I compared prices for Townsend before going and all the campgrounds there are high. Its a good thing that is such a beautiful place to spend time.

RE: I was stupid, again...

Okay, my home a/c guy recommended buying a new unit instead of trying a repair. I found a unit on-line for $438. My rv repair shop will match the price and do the labor @ $95/hour for 1/5 hours. Total for my blunder = $580.50. The good news is, I will have a brand new a/c and a three year warranty on it. I wonder if the waranty covers 5/16 drill bits into the condensor?:S

RE: I was stupid, again...

The unit I have is a Duo Therm. I was thinking it might be cheaper to replace the exact same unit. Also, I really like the idea of the repair to save some money - maybe I'll try that first. Costly mistake I've made - not the first, and I'm sure not the last.

I was stupid, again...

My air conditioner has been draining/dripping onto my bunkend due to condensation and I always have to open the pup up after getting home to dry it out. So today, I decided I would drill a hole in the air conditioner pan to attach a hose to drain it away from the bunkend. Well, the drill bit went too far and drilled right through the condensor and the compressed air (with freon?)come pouring out until it emptied. I will now be taking the camper to the repair shop. I hope this stupidity does not cost me too much. I can't camp in Georgia without air conditioning for the next six months. Duh.

RE: summer trip ideas????

No swimming? Actually, Stone Mountain has a swimming park which is near the campground. Also, Stone Mountain is not a Georgia State Park. There are lots of activities in the park for people of all ages.

RE: Kolomoki Mounds State Pk. or Cotton Hill COE, GA

Hey JV I live in Buford also, have read your posts quite a bit in the last year since I bought a camper and found this site. I am originally from Ft. Gaines, Ga, which is between Cotton Hill and Kolomoki. We camped at Cotton Hill last June and it was very nice. An alligator swam past our campsite; the various cranes, herons, and other birds were fun to watch. It is a really nice park - just too hot to camp at in June. I've never camped at Kolomoki, but visited there many times as a youngster. Can't even remember the campground; we always camped at the lake. If you spend time in Fort Gaines, go to the Big Bad Wolf Saloon for dinner. My cousin owns it and it is a really neat place - you will not be disappointed. Enjoy your trip, wish I was heading that way, but work and winter are keeping me from camping like I want to. Happy camping.
